Forgiveness

I forgive the wine
I forgive the the rim of the glass, the tips of my lips and the love they made
I forgive the music, my footsteps, my sways
I forgive my fire, my passion, my cravings
I forgive my desire to fall and be caught
I forgive my infatuated trip into illusion
I forgive the shyness, the escape, the hiding

Just like the sun forgives us
At every glimpse of a sunrise
For our nightly delusions
Washing the earth with its rays
Motherly, compassionately, vast-heartedly
I forgive myself
For thinking we were two

A Couch

A couch
Us
A casual bottle of red wine
Warmth
Words
Dance
Silence

This back is faithful and strong
It can and does dance along
To many poems and many songs

Yet, intoxication heightens after some dance
And after flights there is, at times, a collapse
And in that collapse chaos battles itself
And when the battle dies, this exhausted body falls
And with its fall morsels ache
Reminding me I'm also made of mud and flesh
And all that flesh wants is a couch
With wine to sooth
With warmth as balm
With words streaming poetry
With nurturing arms
With silence as mercy
With a couch that is home
With you as beauty
An embodiment of Love
A gift of hope.
